Mothercraft ELT: Early Development Program

Mothercraft ELT: Early Development Program

Mothercraft College of Early Childhood Education offers the Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Early Development program with funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This program is designed to help eligible individuals improve English and employment readiness skills for work in the community with young children or to further their studies and learning about young children.

Upon completion of in-class sessions, all participants are offered a 4-week placement opportunity in early learning centres with young children. Participants become more familiar with Canadian culture when working with diverse young children and families. Transportation assistance is provided to qualified participants. No previous experience with children is necessary.

You are eligible for this program if:

  • you are a permanent resident, a convention refugee or protected person with valid documentation; and
  • you meet language proficiency requirements with valid CLB scores (CLB 5 and 6, with a minimum score of 6 in at least one of the following areas: reading, writing, listening, or speaking), identified in CLB Language assessment, completed within the last 12 months or a letter from LINC/ESL school with CLB scores issued within the last 12 months.

This is a CERTIFICATE level program and valid documentation must be provided during the pre-screening session. Participants will receive an Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Early Development program certificate upon successful completion.
